African American History Monument | 1100 Gervais Street
The monument is located on the grounds of the South Carolina State House. It features a map of Africa that shows the original homelands of enslaved Africans. When visiting the monument, you learn the story of the Africans, from their arrival in the port city of Charleston into the 21st century.
Finlay Park | 930 Laurel Street
Finlay Park serves as the site of Columbia Kids Day, Mayfest, The Summer Concert Series, Let’s Share, plus many more activities. It features playground areas, a man-made lake, playing fields, and a snack bar that is open during the summer. Finlay Park is one of the largest handicapped accessible parks in the country. The paved paths are also ideal for strollers. The entire family is can enjoy time at Finlay Park.
Riverfront Park | 312 Laurel Street (South); 4122 River Drive (North)
Planned around Columbia’s original waterworks, Riverfront Park opened in 1983 for recreational usage. Featuring a 2.5 mile trail, the park is a popular choice for area runners, cyclists and walkers. Rest on one of the benches along the trail and take in the beautiful views along the Congaree River.
Granby Park | 1 Catawba Circle
Granby Park is part of the southern section of the Three Rivers Greenway Project. Upon completion, the project will connect several communities across a 12-mile stretch between the Broad, Saluda and Congaree Rivers. The park features unpaved paths that are popular with bicyclists. There is also a paved, lighted, half-mile walkway that accommodates wheelchairs and strollers. Additional features of Granby park are picnic and boating areas.
