WHAT: Pottery Wheel Kidz Night-In

COST: $15 (A $10 fee for kids to do BOTH the pottery wheel and bubble glaze is added in the checkout cart when booking online.)
Children (ages 6 & up) get to have the fun and educating experience of spinning a pottery wheel. The event includes time at the pottery wheel, glazing, snacks and games. The event ends by watching YouTube Potters who are experts in their field and hold the record for fastest pots thrown on the wheel. Join Kizomba Columbia for their monthly Afro-Latin Nights. Receive a free, introductory class of the new partner dance, Kizomba, that originated in Angola. The dance is taking the US by storm! This dance is perfect for anyone who wants to enter the world of dance due to its softness and easy basic steps, allowing any novice to gradually evolve to more complex steps, and more importantly allowing a beginner to enjoy the pleasure of social dancing much earlier than any other type of dance in pairs.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16
WHAT: African American Geneaology Workshop
WHERE: South Carolina Department of Archives and History, 8301 Parklane Rd. – Columbia
WHEN: 10 AM – 12 PM

This workshop will focus on pre and post emancipation government sources in the department’s collection including census records, vital records, military records, state records, county records, and online sources. The session will conclude with a tour of the Research Room and records storage area. Time will also be allotted for individual research consultations.
